Our Background

Located in the heart of the world famous Gavin and Stacey Barry Island, this amazing basement pub, was originally known as Barry Island's very first ‘Hop’. Throughout the 1960’s and 70’s the Barry Island Bier Keller was the place to be seen until it’s closure in 1984 when then known as ‘The Keller Bar’.

Steeped in history as one of the first ever Public Houses on Barry Island, the Barry Island Bier Keller is a warm and inviting underground venue with nostalgic architecture from days gone by.

Reopened on November 30th 2023, with most of the original features still in place, you will find the main entrance situated between Carousel and Dimes amusement arcades.

The stairway down leads to a hidden gem of nostalgia, warmth and atmosphere making it a must visit destination when spending time on Barry Island.

Whether it’s Karaoke, Open Mic Night, Quiz Night or Live Music Night and put that together with our state-of-the-art interactive darts games, pool table and gaming machines there is plenty of fun and entertainment for the entire family to enjoy every night of the week.

The venue is perfect for parties for all occasions and also hosts live music Saturdays as well as ALL sports events from SKY and TNT Sports all shown on our Big-Screen and 7 other multi-screens situated throughout the venue.
